Explore elements with us this Earth Day!  Get friendly with the elements of nature by examining water from The San Francisco Bay, testing soil in the park, and learning how drought-resistant plants can thrive in the dry climate. Get your native animal fix and meet invertebrates, observe a Raptor Walk, and get up close to Animal Ambassadors. Make beautiful eco-crafts with the Museum of Craft & Design. There will be plenty of hands-on activities for the whole family!

Get a head start on your conservation activities and participate in a beach clean up on the shores of The Bay from 10am-12pm.  Please fill out and bring with you the following release forms: 1) CuriOdyssey Release Form 2) San Mateo County Park Release Form

Leave your lunch at home and come hungry! Top Dog, a gourmet hot dog purveyor, will be selling food from 11am-3pm. CASH ONLY.

World Autism Awareness Day

CuriOdyssey will light up its museum blue and offer complimentary admission to all visitors that day in honor of World Autism Awareness Day.

Each April 2, Autism Speaks, an organization dedicated to promoting autism awareness, celebrates “Light It Up Blue” along with the international autism community, in commemoration of the United Nations-sanctioned World Autism Awareness Day. “Light It Up Blue” is a unique global initiative that kicks-off Autism Awareness Month and helps raise awareness for autism.

Planning your visit:

  • A Social Story is available for your use prior to the event. Download it here
  • Almost all of the museum’s science and wildlife exhibits are accessible to guests with disabilities. Learn more.
  • A quiet room will be available for those who need it.
  • Snack are available for purchase in The CuriOdyssey Shop.
  • There is a county park entrance fee of $6 per vehicle. Parking is free to CuriOdyssey members.

Play with balance, experiment with infinity and create angular animals at CuriOdyssey’s first-ever public event celebrating math. No calculators needed!

Explore amazing math concepts in unconventional ways:
(Activities are all day, unless otherwise noted)

  • Balance on see-saws to experiment with proportionality, multiplication and ratios (until 2pm)
  • Play with pattern and algorithms by drawing in giant Sierpinski Triangles (until 2pm)
  • Hear a raccoon talk - our two new raccoons are double the fun! (12:15pm-12:30pm) 
  • See an extreme juggler create huge origami while riding a unicycle (2:10pm-2:30pm and 3:10-3:30pm)
  • Experiment with fractal patterns 
  • Play with light and patterns
  • Explore Giant Tangrams
  • Experiment with a Probability Machine 
  • Draw beautiful roulette curves with our Spirograph
  • Make origami animals

Lunch and snacks available for purchase between 11am-3pm from local favorite, Sam’s ChowderMobile.


 

Super Families Day

Join us for exclusive open hours and programming for kids with special needs and their families. CuriOdyssey invites children with disabilities, including those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and their families to attend our Super Families Day!

Children will be able to experience CuriOdyssey in a safe, comfortable environment. In addition to activity stations and supervised animal encounters, CuriOdyssey will have quiet rooms available for children and their families, as well as a Social Story to help prepare for the visit.

CuriOdyssey introduces a new Afterschool Special!  If you’re looking for something fun to do with your child after a long day at school, visit CuriOdyssey between 3pm-5pm from February 18-April 18, and receive 50% off your admission.  Let your child explore interactive science exhibits and more than 50 native animals. 

Good for all visitors from 3pm-5pm, Tuesdays through Fridays.  Cannot be combined with other offers.

Community Days

Community Day

Explore science and meet native California animals! CuriOdyssey's free Community Days take place on varying days, both during the week and on the weekend, so that more visitors have the opportunity to experience CuriOdyssey.

Please be aware that Community Days are typically crowded in the morning and early afternoon. If you'd like to avoid the crowd, consider coming later in the day.
