Why CuriOdyssey?

A birthday party at CuriOdyssey will put your child up close with science and nature! Your child will love playing with our hands-on science exhibits and meeting our furry, feathered, and scaled native California animals. 

Enjoy a private party space and explore all that the museum has to offer, including our hands-on exhibits, wildlife habitats, gardens, and exciting programs.


All CuriOdyssey birthdays include:

  • Two hours in a private party room
  • All day admission to the museum for all party guests
  • Free parking for all guests in Coyote Point Recreation Area during your party
  • Downloadable birthday invitations (postcard or folded)
  • Table and chair set-up 


Optional birthday add-ons:

  • Biodegradable/recyclable paper goods (tablecloths, napkins, plates, and utensils)

  • Educational programs- Saturday birthdays only, available only September through May
    • Available for Classroom birthdays only.
    • All educational birthday programs are $150 and 30-45 minutes long.
    • Wild Survival Animal Presentation: Get up close to some of CuriOdyssey’s Animal Ambassadors with a private, personalized live animal presentation. Three animals will make an appearance for your birthday celebration, and guests will be able to observe, touch, and learn about adaptations that help these creatures survive in the wild. Feathers, shed, skulls, and other biofacts will also be available to touch, examine, and observe. Appropriate for ages 3 years and up.
    • Marvelous Marble Roller Coasters: Using flexible foam track, tape, and marbles, you can build a roller coaster worthy of any theme park. Incorporate loop-do-loops, corkscrews, and vertical drops to send the marble on its way. This is a great activity on the physics of energy where kids can work individually or in groups. Add this science activity to your party and let gravity take over as the marbles go careening into curves, twists, and turns. Marvelous Marble Roller Coasters has the “potential energy” to keep the kids engaged the whole time. Appropriate for ages 5 years and up.
    • Build It Up Birthday: Does your child like to construct things? We have the perfect activity for you to add to your birthday. Choose to build a sturdy structure, wind-powered car, or air glider in this design-and-build challenge workshop. Led by CuriOdyssey’s science educators, these activities can be tailored to be more challenging for an advanced group. Parents and adult guests can even take part! Perfect for the kid who is always “tinkering.” Appropriate for ages 7 years and up.


What you need to know before booking a party:

  • Decorations: Please no balloons, piñatas, or noisemakers. 
  • You may arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of your party to set up. You must clean and vacate the room within 15 minutes of the end of your party.
  • The Classroom cannot accommodate more than 24 people total (including children and adults), per order of the San Mateo Fire Marshall.
  • Parties in the Redwood Hall are set up for 50 people total (including children and adults). Party organizers will be charged $5/person for any guests over the 50 person limit.
  • Available party times are as follows:

| Classroom/Patio: accommodates up to 24 total guests
Available: Saturday from 11am-1pm or 2pm-4pm
                Sunday from 1pm-3pm

| Redwood Hall: accommodates 25-50 total guests
Available: Saturday from 10:30am-12:30pm or 1:30pm-3:30pm
                 Sunday from 12pm-2pm or 2:45pm-4:45pm

Full payment is due with your reservation.
No refunds are given for cancellations made within two weeks of the scheduled and confirmed party.

  • Please email or call to set up an appointment to view the birthday rooms. Unscheduled walk-ins may not be accommodated.
  • Reservations are binding; please check for conflicting plans before selecting a date for your party. Please email or call for availability BEFORE sending the reservation form.
